PHOTOGRAPHY

LANDSCAPE...DOCUMENTARY...PEOPLE...SPACES

Contact: fill in my contact form

I originally trained at Central School of Art and Design, London, in Jewellery Design, and worked as a craftsman and designer for over 30 years as well as teaching and doing research for the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. During this time I exhibited worldwide and pieces have been collected by many museums.

Photography always played an important part in the design process, interest in landscapes and the use of a wide variety of materials led to the creation of brooches and other pieces, showing texture and colour. More recently I decided to study photography on a full time professional basis and graduated from Oxford and Cherwell College in 2004. Now, the ability to make informed decisions and the exposure to various methods of production, from traditional darkroom techniques to digital, has enabled me to use photography incorporating my love of landscape and my immediate surroundings.

Completely absorbed in my new craft, I am excited about the level of control achievable in this medium. Being particularly drawn to everyday things and endeavouring to capture their abstract quality, the end result often looks unlike a photograph. The images are sometimes quite large and can be printed on a variety of materials, some suitable for outdoors. At other times they are small and in book form, more akin to my jewellery.
